Continuing Performance Development Policy
Purpose:
This policy outlines how PaSCE allocates
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, which are awarded in
accordance with National Law, National Boards and Australian Health
Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

This policy applies to all instances where PaSCE
awards CPD hours, including those granted through digital certification
generated via online education, as well as certificates provided at in-person
or webinar education.
Definition of key terms:
National Law: Governs
the operations of the National Boards and AHPRA, all registered health
professionals are required to maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge,
expertise, competence in a manner that is relevant to their profession.
CPD: CPD requirements for each board are detailed in the
Registration Standard for each profession published on each board’s website.
These detail the number of hours practitioners must spend on each year’s
learnings activities.

Courses (tertiary, vocational, or distance education) relevant to the context
of your workplace.
Conferences,
workshops, short courses and discussion groups.

Recording
CPD:
CPD certificates can be stored on a
board that you have a membership, otherwise they are required to be managed in
a manner that is consistent with appendix 1.
Policy Guidelines:
CPD Hours and Duration:
CPD Hours are calculated based on the total time spent
in the education, excluding any breaks.
Adjustments to Duration: if the duration of the educational activity changes,
(either reduced or extended) the CPD hours will be calculated reflective of the
change to duration.
Online Education: for online courses, CPD hours are determined based on
the average expected completion time, this won’t vary if a participant finishes
the course either faster or slower than expected.
Learning Outcomes: are stated at the beginning on all PaSCE education,
ensuring its relevance in the development of the health professional.
The CPD certificate of completion must outline the below:
Participants full name
Educator (name of Institution)
Type of activity eg. Webinar, Online education, In-person education
Education Name
Education date
CPD hours awarded
Signature of awarder
CPD Certificates will be provided to participants upon successful completion of
the education. Certificates will be made available in the following formats:
physical copies, downloadable versions, and emailed copies. Consistent formats are not always possible,
you will be notified by a PaSCE team member the specific format in which your
certificate will be generated.
Documentation and Reporting:
The storage and handling of CPD certificates are the sole responsibility of the participant. PaSCE will only issue replacement certificates at our discretion.
