EDUCATION overview
Designed for allied health professionals and nurses, this education will build upon foundational skills and increase confidence to engage in advance care planning, palliative and end-of-life care and residential goals of care conversations.

It promotes a palliative approach to care, focusing on early identification, comprehensive assessment and effective management of pain and other physical and spiritual needs.

Participants will gain practical strategies to deliver person-centred care and work effectively within your multidisciplinary teams, ensuring residents are treated with compassionate high quality holistic care.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
  1. Understand the principles of a palliative care approach, including holistic, person-centred care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
  2. Recognise clinical deterioration and apply appropriate tools for symptom management and end-of-life care.
  3. Develop knowledge of pre-emptive prescribing, deprescribing, and advance care planning (ACP) including WA-specific directives.
  4. Strengthen teamwork and communication skills to manage complex family dynamics and improve quality of life outcomes.
