EDUCATION overview
This education equips healthcare professionals with essential skills to deliver unexpected news about treatments, discuss prognosis, adverse outcomes, or unexpected results, in a compassionate and supportive manner. Participants will learn about practical communication strategies based on an evidence-based framework, enabling them to convey sensitive information with respect and empathy.
The Educator complements the education by demonstrating effective communication techniques and supporting these skills through role-playing with participants.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Participants will learn how to deliver difficult and unexpected news to patients, families, and caregivers with compassion, and empathy.
- Participants will learn an evidence-based framework for discussing sensitive topics throughout the education.
- Participants will gain an understanding of the emotional complexities involved in delivering difficult and potentially confronting news. They will explore their own biases and learning tools that can assist the patient and family to process the unexpected news.
- Participants will learn how to use self-care strategies to manage burnout.
